Most standard kitchens take one to two weeks to fit. Here's a realistic run-through so you can plan around it.
A typical timeline
- Day 1: rip out the old kitchen; first-fix plumbing and electrics begin.
- Days 2–3: walls made good, any plastering, flooring prep.
- Days 3–5: base and wall units fitted and levelled.
- Days 5–7: worktops templated and fitted (stone worktops often need a few days between template and fit).
- Final days: appliances, sink, taps, tiling, splashbacks and snagging.
What causes delays
Stone worktops (template-to-fit gap), back-ordered units or appliances, and surprises behind the old kitchen (damp, dodgy wiring). A good fitter builds a little slack in and warns you early.
